Identify this gun

Friend of the family said one of his relatives found this gun inside a wall of an old building. All we know is that it's most likely a .45, can not find any markings at all on it. In the shape it's in I can't see it being worth anything but we are just curious as to what it is.

I would love to know the circumstances of how it got into the wall. Even good theories and guesses could be really interesting.

There's no ejector rod shroud on the barrel, just a different model of the same gun Mo posted? It says the 4" and shorter had no ejector so I'm guessing it's a 4"?

I'd LOVE to hear the story on this if you figure it out.

age of house, age of remodel, location former owners... give give give... no one hides a gun in a wall from that far back and there not be a story.
