As far as the iPhone 4 glass/digitizer/lcd assembly, anyone know/recommend who sells what works (like OEM stuff) and who has the crap to stay away from? I can do the work, I just don't want to by garbage.

Been there. Mostly all bad.

I've bought a couple iPad digitizers and both worked fine. They both had 4 stars I think. The fit was slight smaller than factory, I think to make it easier to install. The screen I have on my iPad now was replaced about 8 months ago and it is still working like new. It is in a full cover type case.

I don't know if you can find a factory quality screen unless you purchase it directly from Apple.

I am in the same boat as you are. I am trying to talk myself in to replacing the logic board on my iPhone 5. I have a co-worker that swears by iFixit and I have used them for many tear down guides, which I have to say are pretty damn good, just have not ordered parts from them.

www.ifixit.com is at least another place to look for parts.
