I believe that's what is known as a recoilless rifle. They're designed for anti armor IIRC, but they use them for all kinds of targets, including personnel.

If it were a recoilless rifle there probably wouldn't be much wall left behind it after the first time it fired. They work by directing the blast to the rear, much the way as a muzzle brake works but much more effectively. Check about 1:10 of the video below for an example.
