My first and only 1911 so far is a pricey little pink STI Elektra that I would be hard pressed to find one that shoots better. I wouldn't hesitate to get the Ruger though as a second, I've heard all good about them. I would guess they're a perfect platform for customizing. Congrats on the gun, I love Rugers.

While I may be a little taken back due to my love affair with my many Glock's... I will nod in agreement and concede to the perfection that is a quality 1911... Hazaa

Welcome to the club!!! I highly recommend reloading now. You can save about $150 per thousand compared to buying new ammo. I'm addicted to shooting mine and I need all the savings on ammo I can get...lol.

I had a Kimber with CT grips and I sold it...mistake. Now I'm looking for another good one but I'll never find a deal like I got on that Kimber again.
