beware OSA, our sage has spoken.

Too bad Mad Dog doesn't log in here, though.

Mattis says Isis will Resurge in Syria following Trumps move to withdrawal US troops

Mattis is a war hawk. He was fired by Obama, and then Trump. Some commanders are great in the field, some suck at politics.
Trump ran in part on ending these senseless wars and was elected by the people.
It's evident the Kurds are Merc's and will be allies to who pays and arms them. They have fought for anybody that wants to support them over the years.
So what if ICIS makes a comeback. Let the people in the region handle it. If they don't want to handle it, they they are left to their destiny.
The American people are tired of the endless wars and deployments by our military every other year that breaks up family units on our soil.
As I've said before, as long as it's contained in their region leave them alone to fight their sectarian and religious battles. We will never stop that.
We don't need their oil, we don't need to lose any more American lives.

Exactly my sentiments.

An enlightening article....quite different from the simplistic "Trump is dumb and/or malevolent to betray our friends the Kurds" version being widely trumpeted by the mainstream media.

Trump simply saw U.S. support for the PKK for what it was: America fighting and paying to advance the interests of someone else, in this case U.S. adversaries, like Iran, Assad, and Russia. The complaint of Trump critics that the withdrawal will, conversely, benefit all warring sides—Iran and ISIS, Ankara and Moscow, etc.—is impossible to reconcile with the logic of conflict.

That Trump’s withdrawal showed more strategic clarity than the foreign policy establishment is hardly surprising. He ran against Washington’s post-9/11 foreign policies in the Middle East, in particular novelty items like Bush’s freedom agenda and Obama’s Iran deal.

From Trump’s perspective, those policies defined the divide between the Beltway bubble and the rest of the U.S. public that saw no wisdom in enriching an Iranian regime at war or spending American lives and money to promote democracy in places like Iraq, Lebanon, or the Palestinian territories where elections were certain to empower anti-American forces.

In watching the news or news clips, I see a lot of the indigenous people of the particular nations standing around smoking, watching American troops go by, fight or patrol etc. In my estimation if the people of a particular country aren't going to fight for country, why are we there fighting and dying for their country? In nineteen years of spending trillions of dollars, wasting many good lives what have we gained from this political war? They're all political but spending 19 years fighting and dying hasn't gained us friends but has increased our enemies. We can give the people that hate us in those countries money, technology and war material and they'll gladly take it but they won't like us whatever we do. Most hate us and it's Bush's fault.

No it congress's fault. They voted for the confrontations then unvoted because the elections were coming up and they had to have a boogyman, Bush, to hate so they then turned traitorous. Them SOB's up there in DC couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel.

A lot of those migrants that left the Middle East for Europe were mostly fighting age males. Pretty sad to see our finest die in the sand when their own people won’t defend their country.
