I'm shooting an STI Edge 40cal. I just got a super deal on some 180 gr moly coated cast bullets.( Black Bullets International) I'm having a hard time locating a good load for these.
I use hp38 and plan on starting around 4grns. And seeing where it chronos at. Is anyone out there using this combo?

the hp38 is the same powder as win 231 if that helps any.

jacketed info is usually a bit slower than lead

there is ton's of load data on BE

according to hogdon's load data 4.1 grains with a 180 jacketed pullet will only give you a 143 pf, which the black lead bullet should be a bit faster, but i doubt fast enough to make the 170 pf for uspsa.

I ran some of those bullets on the chrono several years ago.
Best I remember the charge with 231/HP38 was in the high 4's, closer to 5 than 4 to get major.
4grs is my minor load with lead/plated 180.
My major load is 5gr with jacketed 180.
