Loose Scope, Good Group

Trying some loads in an AP-4 .308 today and when I started packing up, I noticed that I had shot the mount loose. To my surprise, the best group was the last one I shot. The load was Sierra 168gr bthp on top of 44.0grs of Varget shot at 100yrds from a bench.

I think the mount is on backwards.

Could be. I've seen them both ways. I like the knobs on the left, thinking that they could get in the way of the brass. If that contributed to it getting loose, I'll gladly change it.

My bad. I did some checking and it is backward. I still like the idea of the knobs on the other side but, I'm going to change it. (maybe)

If you like the knobs on the left side leave it. Looks like it didn't stop that tight group.

I don't think it hurts anything, it's made that way to let you mount the scope further forward. Mount it the way it feels good for YOU. Tighten it up and keep up the good shooting.

I'm sure the problem was not tightening the mount enough. I'ld been thinking about selling the gun and didn't want to leave any marks on the rail.
