I have been told the same thing about my old stevens model 311e side by side with one improved and one modified choke barrels until my dad said he shot slugs out of it all the time when it was his in high school(back in the day if you will) and it is fine and I have shot all sorts of slugs through my mavericks 18.5 inch barrel, other that a harsher recoil it will be fine just like already said...
cylinder bore is totally fine to shoot slugs out of, that lead is alot softer than the steel barrel its going through
