how does the navy keep their weapons from getting rusted? the navy sf guys training around salt water and sometime dive with weapons on. Do they heavily lubed their weapons with CLP? or special metal treated? I am always curious about it.

We didn't dive with ours but the 50's were always mounted and constantly getting coated with saltwater spray and same for the sidearms. Constant maintenance and buckets of CLP. You can lube the snot out of weapons on the ocean because there is no dust or sand to worry about.

Yeller, that was a classic!

Ever noticed the gov't has 55 gal brls of CLP............there is your answer!

I asked the same question to my brother who at the time was a gunners mate on a destroyer and I think he said TONS of CLP and some other grease for the big 5" gun. Just cake it on
