Hey all.

My grandma has a Winchester 1400 12ga that is now too big/heavy for her to operate. Does anyone have a lightweight budget semi-auto shotgun recommendation? 20ga would work too.

Thanks!

Can you get the 1100/11-87 in an alloy receiver? I had an 1100 12ga but it had a steel receiver and was NOT light.

I just bought an M2... it's light. But I'm not about to give it away!

I'm not really sure about that but more weight = less recoil. My twins at 12 yrs old girls could handle the 1100 20ga, M1 super 90 and saiga 410 with no problems. They haven't had a chance to try others yet.

Edit: They also used one of my friends Beretta 390 or 3901 I can't recall model and handled it fine

I doubt she shoots it much at all. The weight of the 1400 she has is too much.

I'm still trying to determine if the receiver on hers is aluminum or steel. I may just look into cutting the barrel shorter.

CZ720 is a lightweight 20ga, gas operated gun that comes in a youth model that is very light and does not kick very much. I use mine for dove, it swings easy.

Weatherby SA-08. Very popular with kids/youth at the trap range. I've never seen one with a FTF or ejection issue. Pretty sure they're around the $500 range. I'm not a fan of pumps for self defense.

Wife has a CZ 720. Light, has been 100% reliable with everything from target loads to buckshot, and doesn't batter her shoulder. The reduced-length version has a 24" barrel and a slightly shorter LOP, if that matters. Should set you back less than $500.
