The point of the price is that he bought it for that a few months ago - and I doubt he ever sells it (I certainly wouldn't)

If the OP gets a P220, make sure that it has the rounded hammer (like the one in the pic), as opposed to the sharp hammer. The sharp hammered guns are not +P rated.
i had a taurus 24/7 .45 milliem let my grand son talk me out of it. first shot is double action 2nd can be also if it dont fire. or 2nd shot is short trigger pull single action nice gun shot good groups
4506 or 4516 would be my choice based on the criteria you listed, unless it was for concealed carry. They're not light!

I own a Kahr CW45. It's a straight shooter and it was less than $500 new. One drawback of the CW45 is the cheap Kahr bastards only include one mag with the gun.
The P220 is a better weapon than the Kahr, IMHO. The problem is finding one under $500.
