The Obama administration is "not bluffing" in its intent to take executive action on immigration policy if House Republicans don't act soon, top Democratic leaders warned Thursday.

President Obama has delayed any potential changes to his deportation policy to allow House GOP leaders time to bring legislation to the floor this summer. But if the Republicans don't act in July, the Democrats say, unilateral changes by Obama are inevitable.

"We're at the end of the line," Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) said Thursday during a press briefing in the Capitol. "We're not bluffing by setting a legislative deadline for them to act.

"Their first job is to govern," Menendez added, "and in the absence of governing, then you see executive actions."

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) piled on. Noting that a year has passed since the Senate passed a sweeping immigration reform bill with broad bipartisan support, he urged House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to bring a similar bill to the floor.

"I don't know how much more time he thinks he needs, but I hope that Speaker Boehner will speak up today," Durbin said. "And if he does not, the president will borrow the power that is needed to solve the problems of immigration."

...

Does "borrow the power" sound like a nice way to say "seize the power" to anyone else?

Lurker, congress doing nothing is the best thing going for us right now. Its when they do stuff we get screwed. Having said that, we will tolerate those injustices we deem tolerable. Right now the vast majority of Americans either dont care or have given up fighting city hall. The folks who actually care about what is being done to this country are left by the wayside in favor of those looking for the coolest next gen phone, or Game of Thrones episode, or any number of mind numbing and distracting bull ****. Its been a long time coming, and here we are.

Good post. And the more interesting (or frightening) part is what may be coming next. People are fed up, and more and more are getting that way all the time. This can't go on forever.

Does the left really want congress to do something, or to just give Obama what he wants. None of this would have happened if Obama would just get what he wants.

Your right. Thats why I say just recess n come home. Put total blame on him. Hes gonna do what he wants anyway, right? Plus they cant screw us if they aint in session. Think of it as a paid leave of absence.

I agree, this is how society is now. I saw a report the other day that said that in the 6 years of this administrations lies, the 12 year olds that have reached voting age now, have heard, seen nothing but what this arrogant POS in the highest office in the world has to say in his lies, and the lies of his appointed staff, that the mainstream media and social media has promoted.

All the time the media and the administration has ripped the Tea Party, and demonized the republican platform with their lies.

How will those new voters know any difference?

They left is a very small minority, similar to the Rights Tea Party. Most people are just left or right of center.....we're the ones that want Govt to work. Far Left want a King, Far Right wants a Tyrant. The middle wants a President.
