I too dabble in revisionist history. My favorite is to claim that the Irish were slaves in America.

You really should research it before laughing. The book White Cargo is a good place to start. There were a lot more then just black slaves in America, enough so that at one point black slaves were rarer and cost a lot more. Irish women were forced to breed with black men to produce more slaves that sold better, etc.

Let's add a bit more. Anthony Johnson was a black man that was an indentured servant. Once his "term" of servitude was completed, he became a landowner and had indentured servants of his own. Four of those servants were white and one was black. In the Casor suit, Johnson won back that black "servant" who then became an indentured servant for life, thus a slave. So, Anthony Johnson was one of the first black "slave holders" and it was his case that was the first time that an indentured servant could be a servant for life, thus a slave.

I guess that makes a black man the first "legal" (as in awarded in a court suit) slave owner.

This started with the Community Reinvestment Act and the banks were allowed by the gov to have at it. After the changes (Dodd, curiously enough, working both ends against the middle. A strong case for turd limits) the banks over extended and expected the gov to bail them out, which they did. This has been going on in some fashion since the Civil Rights Act and LBJ's Great Society, and will continue until the cord is cut.

Both could be bought and sold, many of the "indentured servants" were kidnapped just like the slaves, and slaves could buy their freedom in many cases. Only real difference in most cases was the name. In fact children were kidnapped in London and other cities and sold as "indentured servants" in the Americas. Do some reading on the Irish "indentured servants". You will see most were taken and sold because the English thought there were to many to deal with.

“During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, [Oliver] Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers.”

It keeps getting g repeated how it was the goobermint that forced the banks to make bad loans.
It was a Clinton reelection ploy that allowed low income, bad risk applicants to "qualify". Much to the delight of the banks, the loans were guaranteed. Realtors made major sales. Builders were building as fast as the could and employing masses (yes, many illegals).
With home prices soaring so did the tax bases.

Sounds like a win, win, win
Well, unless it crashes and you are a taxpayer left holding the worthless note.
