I'm ignorant to the rules to automatic weapons, but I thought that a tax stamp is required to own one.

It is required. Supposed to be a federal felony with 10 years and a $250,000.00 fine if you have a full auto without the stamp.

Officials say he was a vendor at the show and had over 33,000 rounds of ammunition and more than 15 guns.

So, does the OKCPD have an annual auction? If so, I might have to check it out next time it rolls around.

Someone I use to know was caught with one. They didn't go after him for federal charges for some reason. Only state/local charges. I think it use to be 10 years OR 10k fine. Looks like they changed it a little.

Nope...OCPD has a contract with an out of town vendor who takes all unclaimed seized guns to a classified location for supervised destruction.

I asked the same question one day at a break during qualifications at the OCPD range. Ammo is destroyed as well.
