Wife was going to take the kids and head up that way last night to visit relatives. My boy wasn't feeling well so they postponed until this morning. Sounds like the Good Lord saved us some hassle on that deal. Everything happens for a reason.

I'm working on a property in Seminole and was going to stop at McDonalds in Stroud (on my way home) to use the restroom. Every parking spot was full. So I turned into the little stop'n'go mart next door. There was a bus with "Yellowjackets" on the side. A companion car "Jackets."

Inside, the line to the restroom was back to the checkout. I'd never seen that before.

Did anybody in OK govt ever hear of "rest stops?"

I have affectionately dubbed the Turner Turnpike “the Oklahoma autobahn”. I drive it at least 1-2 times per week.
That is a perfect name for it. I drive I-44 from OKC to Grove and back every week. I have gotten into a few of those 90mph to 95mph clumps of traffic. It really cuts off the time. LOL!!!!

It was crazy yesterday. I had to drive to Edmond a couple times for vehicle service and it was 80mph+ and road rage from hell. I haven't seen people drive like that en masse here, and I still drive like I'm in an ambush corridor. It was a lot of tailgating, cutting people off, swerving into other lanes...just nuts.
I figure there were probably some follow-on gunshots after I passed some people. It was like that from the Mustang exit all the way to 77.

Some people are just plain stupid. On I44 in Missouri I was passed by a girl in a Camry with bald tires during the winter. Estimated speed about 90 - 95 mph. Just don't get it, a non performance vehicle, bald tires. People do not realize the amount of damage they are doing to the brakes and engine, accelerated wear to tires. Handling starts to go out the window at higher speeds too. Yes, Toyota's are a reliable vehicle, but higher RPM does accelerate wear and if ones tires are bald, how often are they changing oil and other maintenance? People wonder why I would rather buy new unless I know the owner and maintenance.

Yeah, they did, and we used to have a bunch of them. The state eliminated almost all of them about 10-15 years ago; you can still see the roads where two bigger ones used to be alongside I-40 between Okemah and Shawnee. They closed them during some budget crunch, then never reopened them, finally fencing off the exits and bulldozing the buildings.

The last rest Oklahoma stops of which I'm aware are on I-35, just north of the Winstar casino.
