Has anyone been pheasant hunting? How did you do? I intend to go next week.
I'm packing the truck this afternoon and headin out with the hound early in the morning. I've been looking forward to this trip for a long time now, I love bird hunting with just me and my dog. I don't get into the big pheasant huntin parties, I prefer going solo. Headin to southwest-ish Kansas area for an undetermined amount of days. Reckon I will hunt till the dog gives out, or I give out... pretty sure it will be me first.

Went Wednesday and today. Tough hunting around Pond Creek and Wakita this year. It has been tremendous in the past. Walked all morning today and one more field after lunch and only shot one pheasant and lost it. I got 5 quail and one of the other guys out of 6 got a pheasant and a quail and that was all we got as a group. Kicked up several hens close but very few roosters.
Ya know, I've read the ODW reports, and know that is not the situation in my area. Now your backing me up in other areas.
I have reports in South Central, and western Ok that say the birds are not good.
they say the quail is not what is being reported.
I don't hunt there, so have no opinion on the report
We went out Wednesday thru Friday morning. Wednesday got our limit ,but had a tough time Thursday and Friday the birds were out there they were just letting us walk right over them. Other hunters were hitting there limits on all three days though. It was a good time.

We were around Tyrone just south of Liberal,KS.
We are heading out next week to hunt around the Ft.Hays area mainly Cedar Bluff,we had a great time there last year and killed our limit about everyday.Was nice since there was a little snow on the ground.Hopefully the central Kansas area will be good again this year............
