Picked Up My New RIA 1911 Today...

Well I went and picked up my new RIA .45 and took her to the range... All and all it was a great outing... I had about 3 to 5 rounds not chamber completely, but she was right out of the box and it was cheaper ammo... She shot like a dream tho...

This is her stripped down for a cleaning after shooting...

Here are the results of shooting...

This is a contest they do at the range to win free ammo... Tightest patter of 10 shots from ten yards...

These are at 25 yards... The two rounds that are way low were me not aiming... I was just watching the action of the gun...

I think RIA says 500 rounds to break in. Have had a couple over the years and 2 were new. 1 was flawless and never had a problem. The second had a couple not load properly, but ironed itself out before the 500 mark. RIA 1911s are a great value.

I'm having an issue with mine and it's got me thinking I need a new slide release lever. I have 6 mags, 4 will intermittently not lock the slide, 1 NEVER locks the slide and almost always cocks the follower up out of the mag body part way which lodges the follower between the feed ramp and the slide, itself.

I'm gonna try ACTMAG followers first, bcause the one mag that performs flawlessly, consistently says ACTMAG on the side. The 6th mag is a NEW Chip McCormick and it still won't lock the slide at times. But it has that wierd, collapsable follower to allow a 7th rd in a 6rd mag so I'm not gonna mess with that.

Wideload I had to go thru about 6 mags before my COlt 1911 would use 2 reliable, I have 4 mags that work great and the others were tossed into a box with other gun parts that died.
