Looking for suggestions for a good guide for plant identification that's pretty picture heavy for plant identification for Boy Scouts. Amazon and Barnes and Noble didn't really have anything that stood out. Barnes and Noble had a lamented fold out that may work but the images aren't actual photos and didn't strike me as extensive. Thanks for looking and appreciate your suggestions.

pretty sure if you visit wildlife centers like the one at the wichita mtns they sell native oklahoma themed books. i know i bought one on edible plants in oklahoma from there years ago, not sure if they would still have one but it's a good shot.

you might try half priced books, since they also take trade in you get some local books more often there.

Good on you sir! I like initiative. I would start at the library and Oklahoma Extension Office.

Have you looked at the application called Picture This?

Or these books?

that field guide to oklahoma plants is the one i have. i thought it was just for edible plants but that's just what i remember it for. they sold that one at the visitors center there at the wichitas. i'm sure you could find it at a lot of local state or federal giftshop type places.

it's mostly illustrated, it doesn't have super hi res photos or anything like tho. but it worked for me as a young guy hiking around.

The OSU extension office might be a good resource.

You would think they'd be an awesome resource, but that particular one isn't any good unless you already know the name of the plant. I went through all of the plants in that one trying to ID a weed my brother found in his pasture, and never could find a match.
