My long range hunting rifle is my 7wsm but I practice with a 260 to save barrel life.

In my opinion there's nothing wrong with your 270wsm shooting 150gr given that it shoots well at the range you would be hunting. Better yet, if you had an 1:8 twist barrel you could take full advantage of Bergers 170 gr hunting bullet.

You probably hunt deer more than elk and a 600 yard max range as my premiss I would say 260 shooting 130/140gr, 308 shooting 168/175gr., and 7mm-08 shooting 162/168gr. There are other 6.5mm offerings out there that would work as well.

Sound advice right here. Look at the savage specifically the long range hunter as well as browning weatherby even Winchester. Tikka is a great option as well. For a little more money you could get into a nosler m48 in several caliber choice or a kimber 84(short action) or 8400(long action ). I shoot a 7mm-08 ackley and it's a killer at distance as well as my 7stw and a recently acquired 28nosler. Have a couple of 300 win mags as well. If you can't tolerate recoil that well the 7stw 28 and 300 can be a bit much. I'm not a fan of breaks but have one on my sendero.
