Typically it's on the receiving person to PROVIDE info on the ring. I.e. the ring should be this style, this color stone, what high school/year.
...But somehow she also asked about a completely different name - and it's a perfect match - I think this is the 100% match for the owner.

I have a fixer-upper house, which was in rough shape when we bought it. So we do work on it when needed.
About 10 years ago, the wife found a mens wedding ring in the sunroof.
It was in plain sight, even though we had cleaned the area several times prior - and it was by the front door (high traffic). Weird, anyways....
It had initials, which matched prior owners (looong before us). We tracked down the people, asked for description of lost ring, and we returned the ring to its rightful owner.
Always try to do the right thing.
