Best chance to kill your biggest deer is the first 2-4 days of season..................best chance to kill your neighbors biggest buck is the end of October/early November

I agree if the bucks are still in their summer pattern and heading to crop fields that first week is good until you bump them then it all changes until late in October and November.
I just rolled in and will be here for a few days, but I'm not hunting until tomorrow evening.
I had planned on hunting Thursday but was told yesterday that I'm going to Knoxville, TN. Hopefully get to hunt Sunday.
I will be working but that's ok very glad to have a job right now. I agree with what some posters said above I honestly believe the best chance at killing a monster buck if you have one on your place is the first week of October or the last 2 weeks on Jan. Good luck to all.
