0311,

well......., it went about like what I thought it would...

I started with 3 plastic jugs full of water...

I set the jugs out at 100 yds., 150 yds. and 200 yds.. The jug at 200 yds is hanging on the edge of a steel post, to keep it up off the ground so I can see it...

This is the factory ammo that I used...

Yes, it can be done...

I did not adjust for windage, with a light cross wind and that's the reason all shots were to the right...

I had no specific aiming spot on the jugs and held center mass...

I already had the scope sighted in at 100 yds. and dialed-in for the 150 and 200 yd. shots...

Understand too, that I have been hunting with a handgun since the 70's and this is not anything new to me. I'm not the best shot around and don't claim to be. I know lot's of people a LOT better than me. Me personally though, I just try to be the best that "I" can be and take pride in what I am able to do...

If this was my gun, instead of a customers, I would invite you to come over and let you shoot it but, since it does not belong to me, I cannot do that. I wish it was mine though, cause I'm getting really attached to it... :thumbup3:

So....... If anyone ever asks if a gallon jug full of water can be shot and exploded at 150 yds., tell them that it CAN be done quite easily with the proper set-up....

Hi Frank,

yeah, this is just part of the everyday grime of building and customizing guns...

I don't know where "Tar Creek" is located at, but I've heard from a couple of reliable sources that there are a lot of sand bass being caught there....

I bought a used Super Redhawk several years ago. It came with mounts, so I put a Burris 2x scope on it. Either I got lucky on the DA trigger, or somebody had worked it, but I estimate it at under ten pounds. SA trigger is excellent.

I have never tried it at the distances shown in this thread, but at 50 yards I can hit an orange on a good day with a nice solid rest. Have killed hogs at 75 yards with 240 gr jsp of my own making. May take it deer hunting this fall. Recoil isn't bad at all.

This is a great platform, and I really like what you have done. How much louder is it with the brake?

criticalbass,

thank you!

My hearing is bad but, gun fire make my ears ring REALLY BAD. With that being said, a muzzle brake on a "revolver" for whatever reason, takes away that high pitch crack that makes your ears ring...

This is my standard 44 magnum hunting load:

CASE: Starline nickel plated 44 magnum...

PRIMER: CCI-350 magnum pistol...

POWDER: Winchester 296 / 24.0 gr...

BULLET: Hornady 240 gr. XTP / Remington 240 gr. JSP / Remington 240 gr. JHP

VELOCITY: Depends on gun and barrel...

I have shot tens of thousands of rounds with the load listed above in various Ruger Super Blackhawks, Super Redhawks and S&W 629 - with brakes and without. To my ears at least, a revolver with a muzzle brake is far more comfortable to shoot than one without. Other customers have said the same thing but, I guess it all depends on how sensitive one's ears are....
