half the reason for the iphone is just that it feels so solid and it has a sexy design. Most other phones i've felt going for the same idea just seem kinda hokey in your hand, sure they get it done, but it's just not as solid and awesome... an iphone is like a well tuned 1911
You've not held an iPhone 4 (or seen how fragile their all-glass case is) if you think they are solid. The 3gs wasn't bad, but I'vei seen 7 (so far) destroyed iPhone 4s and I don't even know too many apple fans.

Really? Because most of my friends have them and I have seen ZERO destroyed. I've dropped mine several times and it has been extremely resilient.

I find it funny that all of you guys with Glock in your username are IPhone fanboys. The irony is strong here.

Doesn't seem like anyone is listening to us man.

Typed from my new Captivate. You guys are a bad influence.

iPhone is about as versatile and useful as a brick, Samsung captivate FTW:thumbup3:

Their has been legislation introduced trying to make it illegal to root your phone, the basis for that is that you are agreeing to a usage license you don't actual own the OS installed on the hardware.. with apple and winmobile at any rate. Andoid OS is distibuted under the GNU GPL free license agreement, carriers forbidding rooting of android OS would be a violation of android OS's free distribution license whicg they have agreed to. So to discourage you from doing it they void your warranty if you choose to do so.

I897JF7 has been released but I am not updating from JH6 till designgears or cyanogenmod patch the kernel to repair the removal of the USB tether. Shouldn't be too long for that one, in the mean time other than the long lock time for GPS once locked I have had no issues with GPS accuracy or loss of lock once it's running.

Yeah yeah yeah I know I am supposed to pay for tethering they can get bent on that one too, I pay for 2gigs on my data package it's my 2 gigs to use as I want, I don't use tethering more than 5 or 6 times a year and it's usually to VPN into my work network from my laptop to fix a problem when I am away from home.

Before I made my first phone call or installed my first app I rooted my phone then enabled non market app's AT&T can get bent it's my hardware and my OS under redistribution terms they had to agree to for the android OS. I pay for a PAP to cover damage loss or replacement of my phone I don't need their damn warranty or insurance.

with my intercept (gaining momentum and it has potential) I have the option directly to allow non market apps...and with sprint's TEP I can brick the phone all I want and worst case I am out 60 bucks for a phone but I've broken phones and gotten it replaced free from them.

As far as battery life, resolution, etc.

Android phones such as epic and evo have great resolution and I can get a spare battery or extended battery - and no real complaints from the people I know that have them with the battery life. My intercept I am on constant doing something and get an easy 8 hours actively doing something plus another 8 a day inactive.

I just swapped out my captivate for a new one and I love it. The first one had issues. This one is great, even without the update, the GPS seems to work awesome too (don't know how I managed that). I'm pretty pleased so far and I haven't even tried rooting or anything yet.

I believe the whole 'iPhone has more apps' thing will be a moot point as the market share evens out. I also think the iPhone sticks to apple's closed ecosystem, which is great for a lot of people. You won't hear me saying the iPhone sucks or anything like that because it just doesn't. It's a different feel between the two. Variety is the spice of life. :thumb:

I've seen 3 so far that were shaped like someone's ass just from being accidentally sat on while being in a pocket.

They're far from durable compared to most other cell-phones out there (including the 3GS). Granted, all Touch-screens have an Achilles heel, but the front and back of the iPhone 4 is glass - just doesn't seem conducive to protecting something with your whole life in it to me.
