My son wants a Sig .45. I suggested he look at the Springfield XD (since I'm paying for it!).
I have no experience with either, would appreciate opinions and advice from those who are.

He needs to go but both of them in his hand and see how they point for HIM. Significant difference between the two makers.

What model is the Sig he's looking at? P220/P227/P250/1911 Any of the Classic Sigs or 1911 are much nicer than an XD, I can't say on the P250 since that one I've never owned. You might call around too because there are some killer deals on like new Sig CPO models in the $550-$600 price range.

If you are considering a XD, then I would suggest the Glock 41. That is a great feeling/handling 45 for me. Personally, I'd probably go with the SIG, though.
