What's selfish is the belief someone has to continue to suffer through their mental illness so they don't make others suffer because they chose to end their suffering. I've had a close aunt commit suicide and she waited until her children were grown before she decided to self exit. She suffered her entire teenage to adult life with severe depression. She had good days and bad days. It hurt watching her suffer when she went down her self destructive paths. She made the decision to end her suffering and that was HER choice. You never know the demons one is fighting in their head. Who would have thought Robin Williams was severely depressed his entire adult life?
