I live on the edge of a rural subdivision that backs up to several hundred acres of rough undeveloped land (where I hunt), and we've lived here almost 20 years. For the first time, I had a coyote in my back yard, but he didn't make it out. I killed him as he came out from under one of my work trucks with my 17 hmr AR.

Cool..only thing I've killed with mine is paper.

Where was shot placement, vitals or head? Were you using the Vmax, HP, SP.?

This is good news, I keep mine at the back door for a particular spraying tomcat, but nice to know it works on coyotes as well.

It was basically a heart shot and dropped him. I mainly shoot the Hornady 17 gr Vmax, but I have tried a few CCI 20 grain Gamepoints (paper only).

The gun I shoot the most is an Alexander Arms 17 hmr upper on an Aeroprecision multi caliber lower, but I also have a Sako Quad that I like a lot.
