Went by today and saw the auction stuff. Really sad to see. Was thinking about joining but now not so sure. Lost my lease last year due to family issues. Are there other clubs and has none had any experience with them? Thanks for the help.
Yes there are other hunting clubs in central Oklahoma and you should consider all your options and choose the club that is right for you. But you may wish to still consider Sportsman's Hunt Club. The net result of today's auction is that we will very soon have no debt and will have a balance in the bank in excess of $1,000,000. Our hunt club is growing at a faster pace than at any time in recent memory. So the future of Sportsman's Hunt Club has never been brighter and we are very well positioned for long term future enjoyment by our hunters.
The Hunt Committee will be good stewards of the club's assets and we will look at the right opportunities for hunting and fishing for our hunters. As stated above in this post, a club house to meet at, shoot bows in and a small bit of land for our hunters to utilize will be at least be considered. We will also make sure our future direction is focused on hunting & fishing for our members.
Who knows what all the plan will encompass but I can tell you for sure, this is a great time to be a member of Oklahoma's Oldest and, I think, Best Hunting Club.
Having been a member of the club and a member of the 'Hunt Committee" I wish the club the best, but have some reservations on re- joining. Have the "rules" been changed any to allow for all kinds of hunting on the leases, such as Hog hunting during quail season? Or are the Quail hunters still in charge?
Spencer, some leases allow hog hunting with no restrictions during quail season and some leases allow hog hunting during quail season within reservation rules. No leases are closed to hog or predator hunting. From January 1, 2012 through today, we have harvested more hogs and more coyotes than quail on our leases and both hog and coyote hunt reservations out number quail hunt reservations by more than 10 - 1 during that same period. Think those numbers about say it all on that subject.
