Steel shot blasting media

Anyone ever load cheap steel shot blasting media in shotshells for blasting barnyard / garden pests?

I am thinking it would make a better alternitive to lead.
Safer for the farm animals, and it can just rust away.

After all I dont want the chickens thinking lead shot would make good grit if they find it!

If I ever see shot shell primers down to reasonable prices, and find me a mec jr for 20ga, I would like to try it!

Steel shot doesn’t compress as well as lead. Don’t use tight chokes if firing the stuff.
