It is that time of year and I tried to search here and other places for the best lawn string trimmers. I always have used electric Weedeater trimmers. They all seem so cheaply made anymore. Plastic gears, etc. I had a Craftsman that was used only two seasons that quit working. i know you get what you pay for also.

What brands are the best in gas or electric? Thanks guys and gals.

I'm tired of screwing around with cheap trimmers as well. Waiting for my current Troybilt to die (again) so I can replace it with one that'll last a while. I'm a Stihl chainsaw fan but my local small engine repair guy swears by the Robin brand trimmers. He says they're simple, powerful and repairable. And cheaper than the Stihl.

Whatever I get, it has to be able to cut Johnson grass stems.

I'm torn.

Somewhere out here!
I am done dealing with extension cord tangles and everything else for electric. I may read some more reviews for the battery powered ones(my yard isn't very big at all), or I may just go gas this year.
