Yup... he wrote a letter to his daughter talking about how the Eagle is easily shoo'd off by a lowly and small Kingbird wheras the Turkey as a bird of courage would rid his yard of all King Birds, just as we did.
I'm not sure that he ever really lobbied for the Turkey, he just made the comparison to the Eagle. He really like the idea of a Rattlesnake for our symbol.
Rattlesnake, now that would be a good symbol for political parties.
