For the sake of argument let's say the anti's are sincere in that what they want is a better society. If this is true why is it only guns that generate so much passion.

Let's take a look at some preventable causes of death in the U.S.

Obesity related deaths in the U.S. annually - 300,000 +/-, no one is calling for common sense caloric intake restriction laws.

Alcohol related deaths in the U.S. annually - 88,000 +/-, no one is calling for common sense alcohol intake restriction laws.

And way down the list of preventable deaths there are firearms deaths - 32,000 +/- (all causes), so much passion for restrictive laws.

Just one more cause....... sexually transmitted infection related deaths in the U.S. annually - 20,000 +/-, again no one is calling for common sense sexual activity restriction laws.

Maybe all the betterment of society types are just starting with firearms and will get around to all the other stuff later.

You forgot automobile traffic deaths. More than 40K every year for the last 20 years.

Everyone knows that lowering the speed limit lowers fatalities.

I don't hear anyone advocating for a national 20 MPH speed limit.

How many teen age drivers are killed annually due to texting and driving, inattentive driving, excessive speed...?
I propose we stop letting teenagers behind the wheel, No drivers license till 18 years old.
If it saves just one life.

how can we have common sense answers in gov't when common sense is so lacking? how can a population adopt common sense legislation when they themselves are so devoid of common sense? common sense has become uncommon sense.
