I have a tone that never gets quieter and never goes away.

Same here. Have had it for about 8 years now. I even know exactly when it started (or at least got to the point that I noticed it all the time). I went to a Hellyeah/Five Finger Death Punch concert in OKC and sat about 30 feet from the speakers. I've had that constant ring in my ears ever since.

Years of running hand tools, shooting with inadequate protection, 1000’s of duck and goose loads, etc. Yep, I’m there. It’s especially bad when I’m driving my truck. Oversized noisy tires droning along the highway..

Did that at a Doobie Brothers concert one time, but the ringing went away after 2-3 days.

All the males in my family have it. I now have hearing aids but they don't help the tinnitus. Hough Institute is doing trials on a pill that is supposed to help the nerves grow back but it looks like 4 or 5 years before it may be released to the public.

I e had tinnitus since my teens. Too much shooting without hearing protection. When I was a kid, no one even thought about ear plugs, you just went shooting.

Since I was about 8. Non stop.

I suck a firecracker in the end of a T shaped clothes line pole and it didn't pop. I jumped up and grabbed the end of the pole and pulled myself up to have a look. If went off about the time my nose reached the center of the hole.

That's how I know my blood pressure is up. The cicadas get very loud.
