Took a Stolen Gun on Trade

Ok got a question. About 4 months back I took a pistol on trade. Fast forward to this week and decided to part with it (45 ACP wasn't for me). I was contact by OKCPD that the pistol was stolen. I met them and handed it over. Question is, from a legal standpoint can I report my original gun stolen?

This was the first time that I was ever burned. Makes me weary going forward. Thanks.

Yes sir. Gun was stolen in 2016. So who really know if that guy stole it or not. Lesson learned though.

I bet it changed hands a few times. Did you try to trade it in or sell it a storefront?

I put it up for sale on armslist. I provided pics to a guy that requested them. Then the police contacted me.

Pretty sure you can’t report yours as stolen. It kinda wasn’t but it’s understandable that you feel it was. I’m normally against bills of sale and it probably wouldn’t help anyway but it may weed out the chaffe on AL.

I agree on the bill of sale. In this case I had the phone number, make/model of car and tag number wrote down. I handed that over to the directives.
