I bought this bird on my latest camera pull. What kind do you think it is? I was thinking a buzzard but in that spot, seems unlikely to me.

Looks like what I call a river bottom woodpecker.

can't tell for sure about size but I would guess a Pileated Woodpecker. They are the size of a pigeon, just not as plump. Think of Woody Woodpecker .

I agree. I caught one with something in his mouth. Not sure what it is but maybe a skunk. Hopefully not a turkey piece.
