Trapping, 2023-2024

Ran my traps this morning. They were all laying there asleep. First crack of the .22 mag woke up the other three though. Only 6 raccoons at that feeder, so left two traps set and moved the other two to another feeder.

Man, I really need to pick up some traps and figure out how to trap a few beavers. Maybe I’ll look into that soon. Any way to learn the finer points of this? Weird story, but I more or less had a spirit vision and need to make it happen so I can stop having these dreams.

watch a few episodes of "Mountain Men" and you'll know how and where to set them. I scored 6 or so using conibear 330 traps.

Coons seem to be way down in numbers where I hunt, coyotes seem to be way up.

Can't say I've ever seen a coyote come after a coon. I've put cams on carcasses several times. They just rot into the ground.

4 5 and 6 at my house. Still not seeing but an occasional around my feeders. Think I may have actually made a dent in the last two years lol.

They'll kill them in a trap but I've never seen them eat a carcass.

I've only seen hawks, buzzards, possums and owls on raccoon carcasses. Even in February.

Buzzards have already migrated I think. That's probably the only thing that would feed on one of the carcasses. I see them on our country roads during the summer feeding off road kill.

Do you guys just shoot them with a pistol after catching a coon by your feeder? Wasn’t sure if they would effect your deer hunting. I need to set some traps out myself as they are eating all my corn.

I use a gamo big cat 1250 pellet gun with 10.5gr pellet. I quickly got tired of using my .22
