Mixed mud and hauled block and brick for two old bricklayers. Kept my tongue hanging out all day. Those old men could really move. Bought my lunch and paid me $2 and hour. This was 1971. Purchased a double slick 1962 Mercury Vomit, I mean Comet for $250. After that summer I decided I better figure out a way to use my brain instead of my back to make a living.

My dad was a builder and a brick mason, slung a lot of mud over the summers as well. Hauled some hay on occasion too. Hunted and trapped every second I could in the fall and winter.

At 15 I was framing houses with my dad and younger brothers for i think $25.00 a day. Occasionally hauling hay at night for three or four cents a bale.
Several times a week after work dad would take the bunch of us to to the Illinois river to swim til dark.
Also learned to water ski with a guy who worked for my dad. He'd pull his boat to work and we'd head for
tenkiller as soon as the tools were rolled up. Trying not to be to obvious while ogling his hot wife in her bikini.

At 15 I spent most weekends during school, and summers as a cowboy on the Big Cattle ranches in Osage county. Spent most of my days on horseback, moving cattle among pastures, or to working pens. Fished some of the finest bass ponds I've ever been on.
Spent many evenings under the stars waiting for the horse trailers to get there so we could get back to the bunkhouse.
Hunted a lot of small game, not many deer around in those days.

age 15, 1969. mowed laws age 12, 13, 14. At age 15 got a job during summer at Bradley Chevy in BA washing cars and at end of day cleaning up garage, emptying trash, and sweeping the large shop floor. Really a very lonely job as everyone else was a grown man with families and did not have much time for a 15 year old kid.

Learned how to really clean cars.

Got to drive SS Camaro, Chevelles, even Novas, with 396, 427, and 454 cubic inches. Even drove a String Ray once and while. Made $55/wk for a 46 hour week. Really loved the experience of driving all those really hot, fast, cool muscle cars at 15.

Mom would take me over on weekends and some weeknight to my very cute red headed girl friend.

pretty boring summer, working monday - friday and a half day on saturdays. parents did not really believe summer was for anything but work.

Grew up in Nova Scotia so most of my money was made in the winter shoveling driveways from about age 11 to 16. 5-10 $ a pop, could count on the snow plow to come around & do it all over again the next day. Had a couple of paper routes at the same time. Was a rink rate & hung out in the ice rink, we got free ice time after all the games were over all we had to do was clean the place up, also got to run the zambonie. In the summer we lake fished or fished Halifax harbour. My family never hunted & i didn't get started to late but love to be in the woods. Hung out at the rink in the summer we played box lacross was a good time & baseball, had a buddy get drafted by the Montreal Exposes if you remember them. We also mad rafts & set out exploring halifax harbour, shore patrol did not like that, thinking back it was pretty silly thing to do in the middle of a busy shipping port. If I had the choice to do it all over again I know I would

I grew up at the Jersey Shore. At 15, I hung out days and worked as a dishwasher for a restaurant in the evenings. Made about $2.00 an hour (this was 1968) and had my hours cut to part-time, but I still made enough to buy a SLR camera good enough to start making money selling sports photos to local newspapers.

When I was 15, I was working after school, weekends, and the summer in a auto body shop. I started at about 12. I really enjoyed that year. I was finally getting to spray the primer on the cars and felt like I was moving up. lol "Wanting to paint".
.

I remember the first car my dad let me shoot all by myself. Should have been easy as pie, it was enamel, midnight blue metallic. It orange peeled and I spent all night prepping it again. I had just turned 16 and it was my first car, a beat to hell 69' Camaro we found cheap, the car was the same age I was. I really thought I knew what I was doing too. He had always let me shoot primer and some laquer jobs, and I practiced on just about everything, but that first one got me.

I must have been a late bloomer. I didn't really get serious about chasing girls until bout 17. At 15 all I did was haul hay square bales and work on my truck. Preparing to turn 16. Every dime I made went into that old Chevy. 70 model long bed. One of these days I will drive that thing again. Seems like we built plenty of fence and tore down about 4 decapitated barns that summer also. Sheared llamas and sheep too. I learned a lot that summer. Ohh yeah there was that redhead not serious but I did pay attention to her.

At 15, I was driving tractors, combines, and wheat trucks. Really pretty much the same stuff I am still doing. Crazy because now I cannot think of one 15 year old I would trust with a tractor let alone a loaded wheat truck driving around.
