    IIRC Ruger calls them AC for Automatic Carbine, but I could be wrong.

    If I had the money, I'd have to go with the M-16.

    Parts are everywhere. You can work on it yourself. The M-16/AR-15 platform is the most popular rifle there is right now.

    I like the ruger but M16 is hard to beat. I couldnt decide.

    m-16 easy, easy, easy to work on and Tons of flexibility in config.

    M-16 since it it easy to work on, multiple upper configurations and parts are plentiful. I used to have a MP5 and ended up parting it out to get a M-16 for the same reasons. Sometimes I wished I still had the MP5 and then got the 91 and 93 for other host weapons.

    My vote Colt M16, value will stay high, very easy to work on, good investment.
