What I don't understand is do snakes usually bite the foot or up above the ankle more.

I don't want to be added to the statistics to help find out....

I’ve only seen one of these, it was out in the country west of Bristow.
I’m glad they have the reddish orange strip down their back to give you an instant visual warning to get back.
They’re a small rattler but they sure are toxic.

Wifey just sent me this little guy. Wack it or wescue? Tried to look it up to no avail.

Well it doesn’t appear to have rattles, definitely not a copperhead or cotton mouth.
If its pupils are round it’s non venomous.
So I’d vote wescue.

Rat snake. Other than being ugly they serve a purpose.
