ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - George Zimmerman's wife has called police to her father's house, saying the former neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted of murder threatened her with a gun.

Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell says Shellie Zimmerman called police shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.

Bracknell says Zimmerman hasn't been arrested and officers are at the house trying to determine what happened.

Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce last week.

In the divorce petition, Shellie Zimmerman says she and her husband separated a month after Zimmerman was acquitted of any crime for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin last July.

Zimmerman's acquittal led to protests nationwide.

George Zimmerman is being questioned by police after a domestic incident today with his wife, Shellie, and her father, that involved a gun, according to police.

Zimmerman is being held at the home of a relative after the incident, which involved Shellie Zimmerman and her father Colin Morgan, police in Lake Mary, Fla., told ABC News.

"There was some kind of a domestic, we know that with his wife and father-in-law. Apparently there were some weapons involved and threats," the deputy police chief in Lake Mary told ABC News.

Zimmerman has not been charged with any crime.

Shellie Zimmerman recently announced plans to divorce her husband, who was acquitted in July on murder charges related to the 2012 death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

Her attorney told ABC News that Zimmerman pulled a knife on her today after she discovered a firearm in the house they shared. He then pulled a gun on her and her father after a verbal altercation went bad, according to attorney Kelly Sims.

George Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, did not immediately respond to request for comment.

George Zimmerman is in police custody in Florida after his wife said he threatened her family with a gun and assaulted her father, police confirmed to TheBlaze.

Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell said they received a call at 2:10 p.m. from Shellie Zimmerman saying she was visiting her father at her father’s home when George Zimmerman threatened her family with a gun.

“She advised that he battered her father and was being aggressive,” Bracknell said.

Bracknell said police arrived on the scene and placed George Zimmerman in “investigative detention” while they ascertain what happened. He is not under arrest, and was still “sitting in a police car” an hour after the initial call, Bracknell said.

George Zimmerman has been taken into custody in Central Florida after an incident involving a gun with another person.

Lake Mary police say they were called to a house on Sprucewood Road Monday afternoon after a report that Zimmerman was involved in an altercation with another person with a threat involved.

No other details were immediately available.

The Lake Mary Police Department would not immediately confirm to TheBlaze whether Zimmerman was arrested.

Fox News reported that Zimmerman’s wife Shellie Zimmerman called police and said he was acting “aggressive.” Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce last week.

George Zimmerman was pulled over for speeding in July, two weeks after a jury acquitted him of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

He was ticketed for speeding in Lake Mary, Fla., last week.

I guess they got him after all. I can't relate. I've never killed anyone and then been subject to a nationwide witch hunt spearheaded by the president himself. Obviously the emotional strain took it's toll on his marriage and who knows what else. Just another chapter in a all 'round effed up situation.
