Something tells me unless you(not you BB but anyone in general) know the officer personally, there will be no way to know the whole unblemished story. There will be an investigation and both sides will have their story, but the REAL truth will likely never see the light of day.

Sounds to me like a bad situation made a turn for the worst(for everybody involved). Most of the time these things can be avoided, but they do and will continue to happen.

Oh I know. Never mind in this day and age even "ordinary" folks feel like they don't have to do what any nice police officer asks them even if it is for their own safety.

Honestly, I don't want to know the whole story ... because, depending on who you ask all the men involved were decent fellas ... and everybody is somebody's loved one. Like I said above, there is no reasonable scenario where this should have happened. But ... after taking into account some of what I've seen and heard, both out in the media, and behind the scenes, the more I think I just don't like people at all ... any people ... if there were two guys who SHOULD have have been able to discuss what was going on it SHOULD have been a preacher and a cop, don't ya think?

Emergency Services and healthcare workers have a DUTY TO ACT. It's quite simple.

Prove to me they have the duty to act, if you refuse service. Other than getting on your little stump and screaming that you are correct. I want to see a statute, not some training manual. Regardless, in the case we are discussing, OHP was in the rescue prevention business, which is not legal.
As for everything else you said, adults do not discuss topics by calling people stupid, which you did.

Lol ... it doesn't take long ... an ambien and some warm covers do most of the work for me ... :wink2:

And with that I'm off to go do backyard stuff ... THANK GOD it is gonna be dry for a few days! (Who would have thought any of us would ever say those words out loud, huh?)

Details are lacking so far. I have read a bunch of inputs on various sites, and it struck me that they tell far more about the persons posting their opinions/judgments than they do about the case itself.

This brings up a lot of unanswered questions. Who put hands on who first? What was the nature of the "attack?" Was it unprovoked aggression by one of the dudes in the water, or did the cop get physical with one of them first? Were any weapons involved other than the cop's gun? What justification will be given for the use of deadly force? Hopefully we get some answers. Fortunately there is someone alive on both sides of the altercation, so we may get to hear something other than the carefully-crafted official account.

I suppose the important thing is that nobody drowned. :rolleyes2

This worries me greatly. This is on our own doorstep, in our own backyard. This isn't Baltimore or New Orleans...it's right here in Oklahoma.

Just another reason never to talk to the cops...period.

What is "this"? So you'll not use 911 any longer, or report a theft, vandalism, or home invasion? Refuse to speak if pulled over?

Funny--I see him talking about a hypothetical person, not a specific person, and he doesn't even call that hypothetical person stupid, he calls that person's actions stupid, so I'm not sure why you're still going on about this.
Except that your own stupid actions can and will lead to people HAVING to rescue your ass... firedogs don't have a choice - if someone is doing something stupid and ends up in trouble (i.e.,carried away by rushing water), then rescue efforts must be made, not just turn your head and walk away and say, "Well, they chose it"... those in Emergency Services are required to try to save the lives of even morons. Which puts their lives at risk. So it's a public safety issue.

I guess if you want to let people do stupid stuff that will result in their death and then say they have no expectation that anyone will try to save them, then fine. For now, though, public safety is about more than choosing to risk your OWN life... you could be risking the lives of your rescuers, too.
And, yeah, if a "hypothetical person" has driven into water, that "hypothetical person" has done something stupid, and if a "hypothetical person" has done something so stupid that said "hypothetical person" needs rescuing, it's fair to call that "hypothetical person" a moron.
