Looks like a great time for ya both! He'll remember that for years.
my son was about that age when i started taking him. the two person stands were not really affordable yet. so, i put motorcycle highway pegs on the legs of my stand for my feet and he sat on the foot platform. sometimes it got uncomfortable as heck for me but i enjoyed every minute of it.
