Woooooooow.... talk about dodging a bullet. Not many walk away from heli crashes. Congrats.

Auto rotation altitude above 150 feet and forward momentum mean enough stored energy to execute a controlled crash landing. Most dangerousness thing for helo's is hovering or low altitude.

Agreed... but isn't that when most of these incidents tend to occur???

I dunno, I'm certainly no expert. Just seems falling out of the sky in a metal-and-glass coffin seems an unlikely way to expect to walk out of the ER a few hours later. Either way, lucky for them, lucky for us.

Walked/ran away from 2 in 70. Others had broken bones. I still white knuckle on airline flights.
Thank God for rice paddies.
