Lot's of good stuff on the DD214's. If he's active duty (doubtful) he SHOULD have a military ID he can show to support his claim. Spec Ops in Oklahoma? What branch is he proclaiming to be in? Closest secret squirrel post I can think of is Bragg. Ft. Sill is an artillery post. All the Air Force Bases are not special forces, to my knowledge. Unless the have a detachment of SEALs at Tinker, I think he's full of crap. Even Ft. Smith isn't spec.

I know for a fact there is one E-6 75 RGR actively posted at Ft.Sill....

He is a poser. Your a civilian no need to call him by his fake rank. Let me guess he also got a MOH, 3 Silver Stars and a Good Cookie metal while fighting the Germans at Iwo Jima after he shot OBL. I am sick of these guys posing. I would be more than happy to talk to this guy for you. Also you can report him for stole valor if he wears any metals with the intention of fraud. And thats a felony.

I have not been in the military but my grandad was a command sergeant major during ww2 and Korea and the family knew don't ask about it. My uncle was a captain and served during Kosovo and desert storm and he doesn't talk about it. My cousin was a specialist in desert storm and he doesn't talk about it. All were regular army grunts. Key point is that from experience unless it's a close friend most military guys don't talk about it especially spec ops. I have been around spec ops guys and you know em when you see em by their professionalism and knowledge of the craft but they don't share that info easily.

He lives in Tulsa and is 56 y/o.

He claims Army.

I gave my word so unless, I get confirmation of a lie, he is getting a big chicken dinner, LOL!

at 56....claiming spec ops active in Tulsa? No. tell him produce sufficient documents backing his claims. Also if you use facebook turn him and his info in on the stolen valor page. If he can not or will not produce ID and a dd-214 (with his time in service allotted he will have AT LEAST 1) and no reason not to produce. Tell him to verify his info or he will be booted no refund. I would not continue training him until verifying.

e: also as a civilian his request to be called sergeant is ridiculous....and for you old timers my father's retired ID is more of a pink laminated...but he is a retired officer. I'm just a plain old guy who finished an 8 year enlistment

If this guy is not lying about his service, his training was VERY lacking.

If he is found to be fraudulent, I won't charge him more, I'll just have nothing to do with him further and be that much wiser.

To be honest, his "stories" are very funny. He claimed to be military RSO. In the RSO class I asked to explain to the class about a military range with the target trench, the metal scoring discs, and what "Maggie's Drawers" meant.

He looked at me like I ask him to explain String Theory and said he's doesn't know anything about those things. :bigeye:

So in summary:

If he's claiming he is Active Duty, Guard, or Reserve, then he should be able to produce a CAC card. Period. No CAC = Full of crap.

If he is claiming Retiree status, then he should be able to produce a Retired ID card.

If he's claiming veteran status then he should be able to produce a DD214. There is NOTHING sensitive on a 214 except SSAN. He can black that out. If he is asking for/expecting a deal due to veteran status then he should pony up the 214 or walk.

This. If he's legit, he won't have any issue showing it to a firearms trainer offering a military discount. If he balks, he's trying to steal valor he doesn't possess. That kind of crap doesn't sit well with me, at all.
