I am now leaving for my first ever coyote hunt. Wish me luck and skill. I am just trying to remember everything that I have learned on here. If I took anything away it is this....WIND, WIND, WIND! If I get something I will post the pics.

I went to Okmulgee WMA and didn't see any coyotes. I never even saw a rabbit or squirrel. Not sure if I did anything wrong or if there was anything there. I hunted for eight hours and used my rabbit in distress call. Any thoughts.

How many different spots did you try? How far apart? Usually need to go 1/2 mile between spots called. I made 4 stands tonight and called in 3 coyotes but didn't get any. 1 on the first stand came in using cover and ran right up to the caller and then out again. I never saw him even though I was 15 yrds from the caller. Second stand my partner had cows surround the caller and he got up and spooked 2 coyotes that ran past me at 15 yrds and I promptly missed them 3 times. Just how it goes sometimes. Keep after them Crag. It will happen for you and you are going to be surprised. These were the first coyotes I have called this year and I have tried on at least 3 other days. Sometimes you can't buy a coyote and sometimes it seems easy. Keep going and your time will come.
