Isn't there a guy in Tulsa that is in the hospital in serious condition because after the BGs robbed the fast food joint, the clerk complied, then they gut shot him anyway?

Its not always a matter of saving some cash for a store owner, it can boil down to are you willing to inconvenience yourself to possibly save a strangers life?

Well ... when you put it that way ... the short answer would be "no". Being placed under the scrutiny of law enforcement, the media and the DA's office, not to mention the ambulance-chasing attorney the dead bad guy's family is gonna hire to sue you in civil court for wrongful death are not "inconveniences" ... However, I will admit YMMV ...

I would have to generally agree. There would have to be something else pushing me along, besides the BG MAY pull the trigger, to get into a life and death struggle and risk the death penalty. You can't fix every wrong that comes your way.

Now what if it were 2 cheeseburgers and big ol sack full of cash?

Oh I'm in for that! Can we get some dancing girls thrown in too? LOL

Taking a human life, and endangering others, is a bit more than an inconvenience....No one situation fits the mold of another, so whatever happened in Tulsa is irrelevent. My posture starts with, and stays at, not killing someone over register cash, not even a scumbag. If the situation deteriorates then things might change...

How about a bullet warning? Like shoot one in the ground and tell him if he moves any closer he's getting one to the hip?

I know this is on page one, but thank you for that, Dustin. Thank you.

Tanner's the hip man. He knows it. We know it. God help the guy who gets it in the hip, cause he's gonna know it.

It NEVER gets old!!! One to the hip!

I'm not starting a gunfight and/or killing someone over a slurpee and some register cash...

I had a cousin killed in a armed robbery. He complied and handed over the cash, only to be shot and killed anyway.

Just because money is handed over does not mean the robber will not shoot anyway.

Another thing that has not been mentioned is, what if there is another concealed carry in the store. Say, you are behind the bad guy, drawing your gun. the other person can not tell if you are actually aiming at the bad guy or clerk. What if you get shot by another concealed carry by mistake.

There are too many what if's. you will probably only have seconds to react.

Hopefully the "other" ccw holder has been observing the situation and not just busting down the door like a Rambo flying squirrel.

Anyways...those moves only get credit on Magpul Dynamics videos

emphasis should be placed on this part too. if you are in the back of the store getting a coke and notice a robbery occuring, you have not been attacked at this point. everybody who said they would draw and fire would be in violation of the law.

i think you underlined the wrong section of that law, now that i think about it.

Isn't this pretty much the exact situation that took place at the Homeland Supermarket @ 91st & Memorial back in March of 2006? A 75 yr old CCW holder was standing in the checkout line, pulled his weapon & fired several rounds hitting one of 2 armed robbers. Both robbers fled the scene, one bleeding profusely. The CCW permit holder was not charged. Don't remember if the wounded robber ever turned up or not.

There are several posts saying they were worried for the safety of the clerk and wanted to intervene. Did I read it wrong, I thought the handbook said we could only use deadly force if we felt that the life of ourselves, or a family member was in immediate danger??? With that being said, I would take the defensive position and be ready should the threat approach my direction. It is definitely a hard question and I would be forever questioning myself should the clerk gets shot, but, the odds are great that the clerk wouldn't be. If I'm in line and someone produces a weapon in front of me and all he has to do is turn and shoot me, or shoot me if I'm trying to get away, then I would be putting a bullet in the back of his head.

I would not shoot unless I think he plans to shoot me or somebody else. Pointing a gun on the clerk's face is not enough.
Even though I think shooting the perp is perfectly justified, I honestly cannot make the shot under adrenaline, using a small CCW gun with small sight radius and less than perfect lighting conditions, that will hit the brain and immediately incapacitate him before he can apply a little more pressure on the trigger and kill the clerk.
The other issue is that the clerk and his employer have both decided on a policy that does not include resisting a hold up. He gives the perp the money, they write it off the taxes and move on. Do I have the right to change their policy on how to handle such serious events?
