But there are several fault lines.......

Exactly. There are faults in various parts of an otherwise "solid" tectonic plate. Just a spot here and there where the rocks are a bit weaker, crack has developed, etc. There is one here, of course the New Madrid in MO, there is a big one in the northeast U.S. as well.

This is nothing. Wait untill the mid-continent mountain range gets formed when the plate we're on decides to relieve all the stress in all the other tecktonic plates around the globe. It'll be real neat, too. There will be rivers of oil flowing down the mountains and all we'll need to do is put up a big dam, make a hugh oil reservoir, and tell OPEC to kiss off! All that released gas might be a problem, though.... Hmmm ... That gas .... Yup. Now that I've logiced it out, I can vote. It's the OSA members consuming too many beans.

P.S. JB, put down that can of beans and step away!

But it doesn't deny that it might be making an impact. It's currently inconclusive but under peer review.

Gonna have a tough time proving "fracking" can provide near enough force to release as much energy as we've seen over the past few nights. Also they don't really account for "fracking" near other fault sites.
