Geez, these people. Any time I travel to another state I always check on the states laws to see what the do's & dont's are. I never just think since I have my license it's good anywhere.

Both recent stories out of NYC stated that they asked where they could "check-in" their gun. I never heard of such. Do some states offer a gun check-in service where your CCW is not allowed?

“I’ve been a law-abiding citizen my entire life, and for something like this to come down, it rips me apart,” Jerome told the New York Post. “It’s like taking a good dog and scolding him for something he didn’t do.”

All though I think the Marine did the right thing and should not be prosecuted, someone should advise him that his analogy is incorrect. He did break the law regardless of his intent.

He didn't come anywhere near "doing the right thing". He violated the law by entering New York City with a concealed handgun and, instead of un-assing the AO as soon as he got an inkling that something might be out of order, he asked a stupid question and self identified. IMHO, he gets what's coming to him.

"Where do I check my gun"? Really?, who the hell besides an LEO would even think to ask that question? And what rock was he living under to think the NYC was good-to-go for concealed carry?

I agree that is very stupid asking to check his gun and not checking on the laws prior to travel, However the bigger issue of stupidity and wastefulness is that the State of NY or NYC would waste tax payer dollars convicting and imprisoning a man who apparently put himself in harms way (by serving in the military) so some DA (I don't mean district attorney) can make a mountain out of a mole hill because it's ran by a bunch of liberal communists. I work in the corrections field as a P&P Officer and no justice is served by locking up a man who has no criminal history (most likely) and poses no future threat (most likely) to public safety he simply did what he should be entitled to do anywhere in the United States anyway. My opinion like it or not as a police officer!
