Storm sellers are good and bad...

The good is if you need it, you have it.

The bad, you find out just how many "friends" you suddenly have cause everyone and their dog thinks they can use yours. Even for storage without your knowledge, but thats another thread, oh and keep it locked for the times you are not around.
Locking the storm shelter is not for me..My neighbors all have a big welcome when the clouds start getting nasty. I for one would hate to tell someone they can't use my shelter in order to maybe save their life.

what did your oz safe room cost?

$7999, plus cost to run extra hose to the forms from the road (long driveway). It was hard to get around the price, but the closest thing we found was the Biggs above ground shelter. The Biggs had 4" walls, floor and roof and was $4500ish. It's pre-casted and comes in two pieces, which are jointed on site with sealant and some kind of splice and has to be anchored to the ground. We liked the idea of a one piece design, plus the extra inches in the walls, floor and roof in the Oz. They also tile the floor, not sure why, but it looks good. Overkill? Probably.

I understand, but I had/have some neighbors that just helped themsleves without asking, to the point of storing personal items in it. What did it in for one set was not only running over screaming everytime the wind blew, yes screaming, but inviting extended family over that did not even live in the immediate area during one storm, which radar showed was 15 miles to the south and tracking away from us. I was pissed to say the least, banned them from my place and locked it up after that. Shelter stays locked unless I am home and there is a threat of storms.
The covicted child molester that moved into the house next to me is also banned from it, he had the gall to run over during one warning of a storm that was tracking right over us, I told him in no way is he is using my shelter, and he can just go die for all I care.
Hospitality is nice and all, but people being what they are, they will take advantage of you.

The place i lived in when i moved back to okc in2002. (rental) had a big shelter under the patio. I was shock the first time we went to use it in a storm and there were already 25+ people in it. One guy said i don't think there i s room for all 5 of yall . I was so mad i ended up sittin the den while tornado pass 2 miles away. Next day i put a lock on the gate and shelter door. I wasn't very popular in that hood

I hear you. There is a lot to be said for having a tornado shelter inside the house.

I had a garage Stormsafe installed a few months ago. The shelter is top quality and the installers were great. BUT I would not trust them to report the location. The management SUCKS!!

I had a state fair price and contract in hand on install day, then after install they had a contract with my name on it but $400 more!! Then they apparently didn't show that I already had it installed and a few months later showed up to install another! Everytime I called they were clueless about install dates etc.

What company was this scube?

We are close to pulling the trigger on getting ours installed...leaning towards Smart Shelters...but still doing research.
