Should Churches pay Taxes??

If churches stays out of the political arena and remains impartial to political candidates and public policy, then yes. It is what's required of them to remain a non-taxable entity. However, churches have been riding on the line especially lately. If churches want to become more politically involved, then yes. Tax them.

Tithing and donations? no, as they are a charity. But I do have issues with them holding stocks and bonds, and owning land and leasing it out tax free. Then you are a business, not a charitable organization.

I am really mixed. I grew up very religious and all religion aside, the church I grew up in did ALLOT for the community. From food pantry, feeding the homeless, sponsoring families within the church, helped the old folks within the church to paint their houses, etc. I do not think they should get taxed.

Though I have been to others, especially here in OK and while it may be my perception I think of it more as a business. The MEGA church having one preacher speaking then it being televised to other MEGA locations. Never see a cross in the church, did not hear of them sponsoring any outreach programs.
