Moore PD tacticool?

Can somebody verify for me? Saw a Moore motorcycle cop today on 19th street with what looked to be an ak47 or clone attatched to one of his saddle bags.

2 thoughts came to mind:

First "Why would you put that there, if the bike were to ever lay over?"
Second "Since when did plain ol officer jbt start carrying 'assault' weapons?"

Has anyone else seen this? The cage looked like it was built to be mounted there, not some thrown together home job.

Hmmmmm ... yeah. I live with one. He's even had to take it out at work a time or two over the last 25 years.

ARs are the modern equivalent of the lever action rifle of old...why anyone is surprised to see anyone, especially a lawman, carrying or using one is just baffling to me.

They do. I was surprised to see that they don't have optics on them (at least that I've seen).

I tend to lean this way. Whatever they need to come home safe. Of course, I'm biased ...

I kinda think it being an AK pattern rifle is more baffling.
